SETT Framework

Social: Students having difficulty don't want to be seen as struggling with course content. With technology like EdPuzzle students can get the extra support they need because the content is in small manageable chunks. Access anywhere because video are uploaded to Google classroom. Student does have Academic Support three times a week.

Physical: Classrooms are large with 30 plus students. Students have four to six different teachers daily that may use different teaching techniques. Long classes of 120 minutes. Difficulty for student because of attention issues.

Cultural: Approximately 95% of students have smart phones so they have access to the AT.

Institutional: School has WiFi so students can access anywhere in the building. There is a class set of Chrome books, two computer labs, and most classrooms have a least three computers. These machines are maintained by our Technician.
Student does not have an Educational Assistant assigned to him.

Low Tech
Student has access to an Educational Assistant for scribing and prompting, but this creates independence and the EA is not always available.

Teacher gives notes on the videos that are watched in class.

Graphic Organizers to chunk material into manageable chunks.

High Tech

EDpuzzle

Google Classroom

Application

Student would watch longer video in the classroom with other students.

They would then see the shorter clip with prompts and questions in the  Learning Strategies Class.

Prompts throughout the video will help the student to know what information to focus on.

A short quiz at the end of the video will reinforce key concepts or introduce new vocabulary.

Long movies could be broken down into small chunks and that focus on key points in that particular clip.

Students will eventually learn how to dissect a longer video and find key information.

Videos can be played more than once to reinforce learning.

Students could take video on a particular topic they are learning about a present their short clip with prompts and quizzes.

Lively discussion on why the the key points were picked. Talk about why different perspectives might find other parts of video important.

Design and Delivery of AT solution

Students can use this technology at school or home. They can start an assignment at school and finish in any environment with WiFi. Just need access to their Google classroom where the videos would be posted.

They would need a EDpuzzle extension if they were to edited videos. But could use other video editing applications, like iMovie.

Evaluate the Outcome and Future Possibilities

Students after seeing many videos that have been made into small manageable clips will be asked to find key points in a clip where there are no prompts.

Students will edit videos into shorter clips and figure out key points to focus on.

Students will be evaluated on the content of video clips to see if they are comprehending more information with this small chunk method.

Students could then be directed to a page that has the Insert Learning Extension, and learn more about the topic.

Teachers will be trained on EDpuzzle, Insert Learning and Google Read and Write.

Students could gather more information from websites about the topic because their interest has been sparked. They could use
Google Read and Write to simplify a page and find key points or they could have the page read to them.

Teachers could use this as an assessment tool where students watch a short clip and answer the audio prompts .
